Data correction following a vignette payment was simplified

The adoption of the updated General Terms and Conditions of Electronic Vignette Payment of the Electronic Vignette Payment Collection Administrator has led to the simplification of several procedures such as the refund of vignette payment or the correction of an error in the entered vehicle registration number. Moreover, everything can be done electronically via the Eznamka.sk web portal.

As of August 2024, besides the vignette with a 365-day, 30-day and 10-day validity, the drivers can also purchase a 1-day motorway vignette valid until 24:00 of the only vignette validity day specified by the customer. “We have noticed a high demand for purchasing the 1-day vignette. More than 200 thousand 1-day vignettes have been purchased since introducing this type of vignette,” said Mr. Peter Braška, the Charging and IT Section Director of Narodna dialnicna spoločnosť (the National Motorway Company). As with the other types of motorway vignettes, if a customer purchases the vignette by any means and changes his mind, the purchase may be cancelled via the web portal on the day of purchase or before the start of the vignette validity.

If the driver enters a wrong VRN, it can be corrected

If the driver enters a wrong vehicle registration number (VRN) when purchasing the motorway vignette, it can be effectively corrected thanks to the updated terms and conditions. Previously, a correction of the VRN could have only been requested before the end of the day of purchase, or before the start of the vignette validity. Now it is possible to request a correction of the VRN until the end of the vignette validity period. The correction of the VRN for which the vignette was purchased can be requested by submitting a confirmation of a non-existent vehicle registration number issued by the competent national authority (e.g. in Slovakia, it is the Transport Inspectorate) together with the confirmation of the vignette payment and the vehicle registration certificate. If the request is approved and in the meantime the customer has purchased another motorway vignette and there is at least a partial overlap of the validity period of the vignettes, the driver can request a refund for multiple vignette payments for the same vehicle. The request for correction and the request for refund can be submitted via the web portal www.Eznamka.sk, as well as at selected Points of Sale or by post. However, please note that vehicle data correction for a 1-day vignette can only be made if the vignette has not yet become valid or for vignette payments made at Points of Sale with staff, within 15 minutes after the payment.

The motorway vignette may remain valid even when changing the vehicle

If a driver buys a new vehicle but keeps the number plate with the VRN for which he has purchased the motorway vignette, the vignette remains valid. The motorway vignette is linked to the vehicle registration number for which it was purchased. It is different if the driver changes both the vehicle and the number plate with the VRN – in this case the driver has to purchase a new motorway vignette.

Exemption from vignette payment only with a Slovak parking pass

For natural persons holding a parking pass for the severely disabled, there is a possibility to exempt the vehicle from vignette payment. The parking pass is issued by the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, whereas only one vehicle can be exempted with one parking pass. The driver does not need to always carry the approved request for vehicle exemption with him, as the vehicle is registered in the database of vehicles exempt from vignette payment. The holders of a parking pass for the severely disabled can easily request the exemption from vignette payment – electronically via the web portal www.eznamka.sk, via the selected Points of Sale or by post.

Where to buy the motorway vignette

We advise the drivers to use only the official sales channels for the purchase of the motorway vignette: the web portal www.eznamka.sk, the mobile app eZnamka, or the 380 official Points of Sale of the Narodna dialnicna spoločnosť listed on the website.
