In 2025, the Motorway Patrol assisted in more than 20 thousand cases, helping drivers also in the newly opened Višňové tunnel

Last year, NDS Motorway Patrol crews drove 2.8 million kilometres while assisting the drivers in need on motorways and expressways. In most cases, they removed obstacles from the road and provided assistance when traffic accidents occurred. In total, they intervened in more than 20 thousand cases, and their help was also needed on the newly opened section of the D1 motorway, including the Višňové tunnel.

The Motorway Patrol service of Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (National Motorway Company, hereafter referred to as “NDS”) has been operating for 10 years already, and its main tasks include assisting in traffic accidents by creating a so-called safe cover and removing obstacles from the road. Last year, the Motorway Patrol was called to remove an obstacle or a dangerous object from the road almost 18 thousand times, this being the most frequent reason for intervention.

The second most frequent activity of the Motorway Patrol is helping drivers in need. In 2025, the patrol assisted in more than 2,000 cases, primarily involving passenger car accidents and multi-vehicle collisions.  The crews stationed at the centres in Bratislava and Trnava responded to most of these incidents, partly due to the highest traffic volume on the motorway section between these two cities.

The NDS Motorway Patrol also intervened on the new section of the D1 motorway with the Višňové tunnel, just one day after this section was opened. The local Motorway Patrol crew helped a driver whose car had broken down just before entering the tunnel.

The Motorway Patrol is a free-of-charge service available 24 hours a day on the sections of the Slovak motorway and expressway network managed by NDS. Drivers in need can easily contact the Motorway Patrol by dialling 0800 100 007. “The help of our colleagues from the Motorway Patrol is available on any motorway section in Slovakia, as our patrol crews are stationed at all the Motorway Management and Maintenance Centres across the country,“ concluded Rastislav Droppa, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors and Operations Section Director of NDS.
