In 2024, the revenues of Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (National Motorway Company, hereinafter referred to as “NDS”) from the sale of motorway vignettes accounted for nearly 112.5 million EUR. Almost one-third of the vignettes were purchased by drivers from foreign countries. The biggest annual increase in the sale of motorway vignettes was recorded by drivers from Austria (an increase of 3.4%) and Poland (an increase of 2.5%), however, most of the vignettes purchased by drivers from abroad still belong to vehicles registered in the Czech Republic.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (National Motorway Company, hereinafter referred to as “NDS”) sold almost 5.5 million electronic motorway vignettes last year, whereas 70% of all the vignettes were purchased through online sales channels of NDS.

In 2024, the crews of the Motorway Patrol of Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (the National Motorway Company, hereinafter referred to as “NDS”) drove over 2,5 million kilometres and helped to solve 30 thousand incidents on the roads. As usual, the most frequent activity of the Motorway Patrol was to create a safe cover on the motorway for vehicles in need – this service was provided to more than 12 thousand motorists in 2024.

In 2024, the National Motorway Company, managed to improve the pavement condition of almost 150 kilometers of motorways and expressways in Slovakia, which is the largest number of roads repaired in recent years and represents an increase of more than 60 % compared to the previous year. Most of the work consisted of major repairs, replacing the top layers of the road pavement. Compared to previous years, NDS has also invested more in road surface renovation spraying, which is used to prevent road surface degradation.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť úspešne zvládla zatiaľ najnáročnejšie dni tohtoročnej zimnej sezóny. Na významnej časti Slovenska panovali v nedeľu a na Troch kráľov nepriaznivé poveternostné podmienky, vrátane sneženia, dažďa a následnej poľadovice. Národná diaľničná spoločnosť od 5. do 7. januára nasadila do terénu 630 zamestnancov, takmer 300 vozidiel a mechanizmov. Stroje počas pluhovania a posypu najazdili približne 30-tisíc kilometrov.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť v tomto roku investovala do opráv a rekonštrukcií mostov vyše 24 miliónov eur. Národnej diaľničnej spoločnosti sa podarilo komplexne obnoviť sedem mostov, zlepšiť stav 25 mostov a opraviť asi 55 mostných záverov. Vďaka tomu sa zvýšil dopravný komfort, znížila hlučnosť či predĺžila životnosť strategických mostov napríklad pri Trnave, Zvolene, Hlohovci či v Podbanskom.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť vyhlásila v roku 2024 päť veľkých verejných súťaží na výstavbu viacerých úsekov D1 a D3. Celý ťah D1 od Bratislavy po Košice, ako aj kysucká D3 sú súčasťou dôležitej medzinárodnej základnej TEN-T siete. Kvalitná dopravná infraštruktúra priamo aj nepriamo prispieva k zlepšeniu ekonomickej výkonnosti. A to nielen v krajine, ktorou dopravná tepna prechádza, ale aj v celom európskom spoločenstve.

As of the new year, drivers or operators of a vehicle will be obliged to purchase a motorway vignette when using the charged sections of Slovak motorways regardless of the country of registration of the given vehicle. This obligation also applies to vehicles registered in Ukraine. The new legislation repeals the exemption introduced in the Slovak Republic as of February 2022.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť odovzdala motoristom do predčasného užívania približne dvojkilometrový úsek diaľnice D1 pri Ivachnovej. Jej súčasťou je aj unikátny stabilizačný objekt – galéria.

Národná diaľničná spoločnosť, a.s. (the National Motorway Company, hereinafter referred to as “NDS”) has continually enhanced safety features on motorways and expressways in Slovakia in 2024. Overall, the staff workers of NDS have renewed 400 kilometers of horizontal road markings, updated traffic signs on several road sections and renewed or added almost 16,000 reflective road markers. NDS has launched a new initiative aimed at safety education of drivers, including a gradual installation of information boards and stickers depicting the rescue lane applied on maintenance vehicles operated by NDS.

This year, the Slovak motorway authority has introduced the 1-day motorway vignette in Slovakia. Almost 740,000 1-day vignettes have been sold since its launch until now. Despite being introduced only in the second half of 2024, the 1-day vignette has become the third best-selling vignette in Slovakia, with the 10-day vignette still being the most popular one.
